Take Action: Support the new Food and Farm Act!

U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer (Oregon) has introduced a new comprehensive bill in the United States, called the Food and Farm Act, to replace the Farm Bill that is discussed every five years.

The Food and Farm Act prioritizes the health of people and the planet by focusing resources on those who need it most, fostering innovation, encouraging investments in people and the planet, and ensuring access to healthy foods.

The current Farm Bill misdirects federal resources and undermines human health and nutrition, the environment, and economic viability for small and mid-size farmers and ranchers.

The new bill has nine sections, or titles, that outline how goals will be enacted, including fixing subsidies and insurance for commodity farms, bringing accountability to environmental conservation, improving global food assistance, expanding access to nutritious foods for all Americans, building a future for American farmers, addressing food waste, prioritizing climate in agriculture research, treating animals with respect, and recognizing that the country is only as strong as its regional food networks.

The Food and Farm Act represents a vision for a better future that serves farmers, families, animals, and the environment and has been built over years of close working relationships with farmers, taxpayer advocates, environmentalists, nutrition experts, families, and those passionate about food systems.
